Every number the app shows: what it is, how we measure it and what's typical.
One page for every number the app shows. Each page says what it is, how the pods measure it, what’s typical, how sure we are and what you can try. The same text appears behind the ⓘ in the app.
Overall
- Running Form scoreA 0 to 100 summary of the running findings we could measure, with sub-scores for landing, leg swing, stability and symmetry.Pods: At least two measured findings (more pods give a fuller score) · Confidence: Medium
- Left vs right (symmetry)How similar your left and right leg are, shown on a gauge where the centre means even.Pods: Pods on both shins (both thighs add knee angles) · Confidence: Medium
- Form over the run (fatigue)How your running form changed from the first third to the last third of a run.Pods: Depends on the number (shins for most) · Confidence: Medium
Rhythm and timing
- Steps per minute (cadence)How many steps you take each minute while running, counting both feet.Pods: One pod anywhere (best on a shin) · Confidence: High
- Stride timeThe time from one landing of a foot to the next landing of the same foot.Pods: One pod on a shin or foot · Confidence: High
- Time on the ground (ground contact time)How long each foot stays on the ground per step, in milliseconds.Pods: A pod on a shin or foot (both legs for left vs right) · Confidence: Medium
- Time in the air (flight time)How long both feet are off the ground between steps, in milliseconds.Pods: Shin or foot pods on both legs (one leg gives an estimate) · Confidence: Medium
- Duty factorThe share of each stride your foot spends on the ground, as a percentage.Pods: A pod on a shin or foot · Confidence: Medium
Landing
- Where your foot lands (shin angle at landing)How far in front of your knee your foot lands, measured as the angle of your shin when the foot touches down.Pods: Pods on both shins · Confidence: Medium
- Foot angle at landing (foot strike)Which part of your foot touches the ground first, heel, midfoot or forefoot, from the angle of the foot at landing.Pods: Pods on both feet · Confidence: Medium
- Knee bend at landingHow much your knee is bent at the moment your foot touches the ground.Pods: Thigh and shin pods on the same leg · Confidence: Medium
- Knee bend absorbing the landingThe most your knee bends while your foot is on the ground and carrying your weight.Pods: Thigh and shin pods on the same leg · Confidence: Medium
- Knee yieldHow much extra your knee bends after landing, a measure of how your leg works like a spring.Pods: Thigh and shin pods on the same leg · Confidence: Medium
- Landing impact (peak shin acceleration)The size of the jolt your shin feels at each landing, in g, compared only with your own usual.Pods: A pod on the shin · Confidence: Medium
Leg swing and push-off
- Heel lift in the swingHow tightly your heel folds up behind you as the leg swings forward, measured as your peak knee bend in the swing.Pods: Thigh and shin pods on the same leg (shin only gives an estimate) · Confidence: Medium
- Shin swing behind youHow far back your shin swings after push-off, used as an estimate of heel lift when you wear shin pods only.Pods: A pod on the shin · Confidence: Medium
- Push-off (leg reach behind)How far your thigh reaches behind you when your foot leaves the ground.Pods: A pod on the thigh · Confidence: Medium
- Hip extension at push-offThe angle between your thigh and your pelvis when your foot leaves the ground.Pods: A thigh pod plus a pelvis pod · Confidence: Low
- Knee driveHow high your thigh comes up in front of you as the leg swings forward.Pods: A pod on the thigh · Confidence: Medium
Pelvis and trunk
- Bounce (vertical oscillation)How far your body moves up and down with each step, measured at your lower back, in centimetres.Pods: A pod on the pelvis (centre of the lower back) · Confidence: Medium
- Hip drop (pelvic drop)How much the opposite side of your hips dips while you stand on one leg during each step.Pods: A pelvis pod plus pods on both shins · Confidence: Low
- BrakingHow sharply your body slows down just after each landing, measured at your lower back.Pods: A pelvis pod plus a shin or foot pod · Confidence: Low
- Trunk leanHow far your upper body leans forward while you run, compared with standing.Pods: A chest pod plus a shin or foot pod · Confidence: Low
