Why stand still at the start?
Three seconds of standing still with all pods on gives the app your neutral position. Without it, knee, hip and landing angles stay hidden.
The pods don't know how they sit on your body. Standing still for a moment tells the app what "straight" looks like for you. Every angle is then measured relative to how you stand.
How to do it
- Put all pods on first. Tighten the straps.
- In the Calibrate step, tap Start.
- Stand upright and relaxed, feet hip-width apart, arms by your sides, looking ahead.
- Stay still while the ring counts down 3 seconds.
- Then start moving.
All pods must be still at the same time. Holding the phone and tapping is fine, but don't walk, bounce or adjust a strap during the countdown.
What it unlocks
Without the standing pose, the app hides angles that need it:
You'll see the message "Stand still for 3 s at the start next time to unlock joint angles." Steps per minute, time on the ground, bounce and left vs right still work.
Skipped it?
You can tap Skip and start now. If you don't stand still within 15 seconds, the app starts anyway and notes that angles may be less precise. The app also looks for any still moment of 1 second or more in the first part of your recording, for example while you wait at a crossing.
Tips
- Do it every time, even if the pods haven't moved. A strap can shift between sessions.
- If a pod slips during the run, its angles change. Tighten straps well.
- Don't stand on a moving treadmill belt. Stand on the side rails or start the belt after the countdown.
