Recording
Use your phone as a sensor
No pods? Put the phone in a snug running belt at your lower back, keep the screen on and record it as a pelvis sensor.
You can try ReadMyMove without pods. Your phone has a motion sensor too, and the app can record it as a pelvis sensor.
How to record with the phone
- In the Pods step, choose "No pods? Use this phone".
- Put the phone in a snug running belt at your lower back. It must not bounce.
- Keep the screen on. The app keeps it awake for you.
- Continue with Calibrate, stand still for 3 seconds and go.
On iPhone, the app asks for permission to use motion. Tap Allow.
What you get
A phone at the lower back gives a smaller picture than pods:
- Steps per minute (an estimate from one sensor)
- Pelvis movement such as bounce, if the phone sits tight
Left vs right, where your foot lands and knee angles need pods on your legs. See How many pods do I need?
A phone is heavier than a pod and moves more in a belt, so read its numbers as rough.
Messages you may see
- "Motion access is blocked": allow motion and orientation access for the site in your browser settings, then try again.
- "No motion data from this device": the phone didn't send any motion data. Reload the page and try again, or try another browser.
- "This browser can't read motion sensors": use Chrome on Android, or Safari or Bluefy on iPhone.

ReadMyMove shows how you move. It does not assess injuries or health. If you have pain, see a health professional. If you're pain-free, there's no need to change something just because it differs from a typical range.
