Recording

What does signal quality mean (Great, Good, Patchy)?

It shows how much pod data reached your phone. Patchy means some data was lost, so findings from that pod get a lower confidence.

Each pod sends about 100 readings per second over Bluetooth. Sometimes some of them don't arrive. Signal quality tells you how complete the recording is.

Where you see it

  • After you tap Stop: "Nice work!" shows Signal: Great, Good or Patchy.
  • On the activity, Data tab: a data-quality table per pod with Excellent, Acceptable or High loss, the Lost %, the sample rate (Hz) and whether Calibration worked.

What it changes

  • Small gaps are fine. The analysis skips steps with missing data.
  • With bigger gaps, findings from that pod get a lower confidence, for example Rough instead of Good for trends. See What do the confidence labels mean?
  • With very little data, a finding shows "Needs more data" instead of a result.

How to get a better signal

  • Carry the phone on your body, close to the pods: a running belt at the waist or an armband works well.
  • Don't leave the phone a few metres away on a bench or treadmill console.
  • Keep pods charged.
  • Close other apps and browser tabs that use Bluetooth.
  • On Android, turn off battery saver for Chrome while you record.
  • Keep the app on screen and don't reload the tab.

"Nothing was recorded"

If no data arrived at all, the Save step says "Nothing was recorded". Check that your pods were connected in the Pods step, then try again. See My pod doesn't show up.

Still patchy?
