Recording
Recording dance
You can record bachata, salsa and kizomba today. Dance analysis is coming soon, and your recordings are saved so they can be analysed later.
You can record dance sessions now. Dance analysis is coming soon. Until then, the activity page shows "Coming soon: your steps against the beat", and your raw recording is kept so it can be analysed when dance insights arrive.
How to record a dance
- Tap Record.
- At Activity, pick Dance, then the style: Bachata, Salsa, Kizomba or Other dance.
- At Pods, the app suggests pelvis + both shins, plus both wrists if you have them.
- Stand still for 3 seconds at Calibrate, then dance.
- Save and add a note, for example the song or the tempo.
Where to wear the pods
| Pod | Where |
|---|---|
| Pelvis | Centre of the lower back, arrow up |
| Left and right shank | Outer side of each shin (or just above the ankle), arrow up |
| Left and right wrist | Back of the forearm, arrow toward the elbow |
See Where and how to wear the pods.
What's coming
These dance features are planned and not available yet:
- On-beat %: how often your steps land on the beat
- Rush or drag: whether you tend to be early or late
- Accuracy per count, 1 to 8
- Tap and pause checks on 4 and 8
- Practice tracks and a metronome with a known beat
Tips for now
- Write the style, song or BPM in the note. It helps us when analysis arrives.
- Keep phones in a pocket or belt, not in your hand.
- Partner dancing: check that the pods don't catch on your partner's clothes.
