Research consent
The optional consent that lets ReadMyMove use your pseudonymised recordings to develop and test its analysis. Off by default; withdraw any time.

Draft — pending lawyer review
This text describes how ReadMyMove works today, but a lawyer has not reviewed it yet. It may change before the public launch.
Draft — pending lawyer review. This is the text shown when you choose whether to help improve ReadMyMove's analysis. It is optional and off by default. Saying no changes nothing about what the app does for you.
The consent, in one sentence
"I agree that ReadMyMove (Profit Flow Ltd.) may use my pseudonymised movement recordings, activity labels and analysis results to develop, train and test its movement-analysis models. I can withdraw this at any time in settings or by emailing hello@readmymove.com."
What this covers
- Data used: the motion recordings from your pods or phone, the activity type and style you chose (for example "Running" or "Bachata"), pod placements, analysis results, and, if you give them, height, leg length and year of birth.
- Not used: your name, email address and notes. Video is never included unless you upload it and give a separate, specific consent for that video.
- Pseudonymised: before a recording goes into a research dataset, it is separated from your account details and given a random code. Only a small number of ReadMyMove staff can link the code back to your account, and only to honour a withdrawal or deletion.
- Purpose: to make the analysis better. For example step and beat detection, dance step recognition, and checking our numbers against video or lab measurements.
- Who: ReadMyMove staff and, if we use them, labelling or computing providers bound by a data processing agreement and listed on the Sub-processors page. Data stays in the EU unless that page says otherwise.
- Never: sold, used for advertising, or used to draw conclusions about your health.
- Results we publish (for example in a validation report) contain only aggregated, anonymous numbers.
Your choice
- Off by default. You choose it at sign-up or later in Settings → Privacy & data (coming soon; until then, email us).
- Withdraw any time. From then on, your recordings are left out of new datasets. Datasets that were already frozen for a model version are marked so your recordings are excluded the next time that model is retrained.
- Deleting a recording or your account also removes it from research datasets, except where it has already become part of anonymous aggregate results.
- Legal basis: your explicit consent (GDPR Art. 9(2)(a) and Art. 6(1)(a)).
Dance data collection (beta)
During the beta we also run guided recording sessions with dancers and teachers (metronome tracks, often with video). Those sessions use a separate written consent that explains the video part in detail, and you can take part without sharing video.
